Being able to add, remove and edit the contents with the wiki's makes it hard to know for sure if the facts are true from day to day. Example on wikipedia was information on Abraham Lincoln's assassination where one of the flags at the time of his death was used to staunch the flow of blood after he was shot. The flag is on display in a museum. I would have to ask for a reliable source for this information before I could use it as my source. This is probably why teachers don't recognize this as a reliable site for reports. However, this information could have already changed.
I went to the Bull Run Library and found the Green Libraries Unconference which is being sponsored by the Alington Public library. The site brings people together who can share ideas with each other. The event is free which encourages people to attend. Also, the event is conducted by the participants who are involved rather than outside people. We are having a health fair at our library, and I can see where a Wiki would come in useful.
